Housing the tomb of Imam Reza (8th Imam of Shia Muslims), Mashhad is considered as a religious hub for Iranians and Shia Muslims all around the world. Each year around 30 million Iranians visit Mashhad and over 1.5 million foreign visitors go to Mashhad. Note that there are strict dress codes for women to be allowed to enter the shrine. They will be provided with Chador as well. Imam Reza’s (PBUH) holy shrine is the biggest, most important and prominent religious center of Iran that consists of the most features of Persian-Islamic architecture that many pilgrims from Iran and all around the world go to this place every year. The Imam Reza’s holy shrine is a complex of Shrine, dome, finial, Ravagh, Bast, courtyards, porches, mosques, Saqakhaneh which are the most worthwhile of architectural decoration. Also, Astane Qods Razavi is a complex of holy shrine, systems, institutions, cultural, industrials, agricultural and therapeutic institutions which it's administrative and management relied on pilgrims vows and endowments.

Nader Shah Afshar’s Tomb and the garden is about 14 thousand and four hundred sq. meters, each side ending to a street. The design of the pools and waterways all follow the traditional Iranian garden structures, although it was rebuilt in 1963.
